The Phoenix Takes Flight

My main new project is A Pear Tree in Full Bloom, Its Blossoms Overwhelming the Begonia!

Classical version:

There is a beauty whose face I saw, and whom I cannot forget.

One day without seeing her, and I am mad with longing.

Like a phoenix flying far and wide, I search the four seas for my mate.

Alas, my beloved is nowhere by the eastern wall.

I pluck the strings to speak for me, hoping to tell her what is in my heart.

When will she accept me, and put an end to my anxious longing?

I hope we may be joined together, hand in hand.

If we cannot fly side by side, I will be lost.

Modern version:

Who is softly calling,

Up in the sky, among the clouds?

Letting me imagine, day and night,

That in my dreams I return to your side

South of the colorful clouds, the direction of my heart,

Peacocks fly away, and memories linger
