Immortal Lord, You're the Substitute Too (Double Substitutes)

Two substitutes + a groveling ex who tries to win his wife back Everyone knew that Immortal Lord Yueqian had a beloved who never returned his feelings. Everyone also knew that Immortal Lord Yueqian kept a beautiful songbird in his pavilion, a woman who loved him to the depths of her soul. The beauty was a disciple of the Hehuan Sect whom the immortal lord had brought back from outside. Every frown and smile of hers was just like that of the woman he loved. Everyone thought she was an insignificant substitute, and Immortal Lord Yueqian thought so too. Later, when the demons invaded, they tore the songbird he kept in his pavilion to pieces, one by one. That day, Immortal Lord Yueqian went mad and fell to his knees before his dead songbird, weeping blood with every cry. When Lou Sheng was there, Immortal Lord Yueqian was elegant and refined, warm and courteous. He cared about everything except her, whom he treated with disdain. When Lou Sheng was gone, Immortal Lord Yueqian seemed to have lost his soul. He spent every day in the pavilion, caring about no one and thinking only of Lou Sheng. Only then did everyone realize that, at some point, this songbird had come to occupy all of Immortal Lord Yueqian's heart. Later, when the demons invaded in force once more, Immortal Lord Yueqian led his troops to repel them, only to discover that the graceful commander riding a demon beast on the other side was the songbird he had longed for day and night. Her gaze was calm, and the sword that pierced his chest showed no mercy. "You're not him," he heard her say. She was the ruthless leader of the demons, and the beloved of his master, who had fallen not long after leaving the righteous path. He was the substitute! A younger puppy-like righteous immortal lord vs. a mad, beautiful villainess Content warnings: The leads are substitutes for each other, and the angst is everywhere. The male lead is not a good person at first. He's a real jerk. The female lead isn't a good person either. If you want to curse out the male lead, wait a little before you do. Theme: Respect life.
