Please note the following before reading:
1. The person who transmigrates into Lanxin is a real princess from ancient times. The Great Yan dynasty is fictional, but she still has many of the habits of an ancient woman. Please don't judge her by modern standards.
2. I haven't watched the TV adaptation of Plum Blossom Mark. I've only read the episode summaries and Qiong Yao's original novel, but I've drawn on both the book and the show, so there may be plot holes. Please point them out.
3. This story doesn't follow Qiong Yao's style. My goal is to make the angst feel reasonable, right? If you want something in Qiong Yao's style, you can just click “X.”
4. This is a casual work of mine. I wrote it simply because I realized Princess Lanxin was the most cruelly and undeservedly tormented character in Grandma Qiong Yao's stories, and I wanted to clear her name. Updates will be irregular, but I promise I won't abandon it.
5. About the princess in this story: She's a real princess, and she's been married for thirteen years. Her husband is a proud eagle of the grasslands. To her, Haozhen is just a child; she doesn't think much of him and wouldn't even consider him a worthy opponent. So the princess will deliberately or inadvertently knock Haozhen down until he's utterly crushed.
6. About Bai Yinshuang: This woman is actually quite calculating! It's not that I want to portray her that way; based on Qiong Yao's original novel, she's remarkable! She managed to go from being a low-class street singer to becoming the concubine of a noble beile!
7. About Haozhen: In Qiong Yao's original novel, this man is the archetypal lover who dies young. But the fact that he disregards his parents and his duties as a subject shows that he's simply an irresponsible man! Look at how he treats Bai Yinshuang: he's a typical male chauvinist, with all the usual faults men have. But the princess keeps interfering, which is what gives him his reputation as a great lover. I imagine Qiong Yao understood that Haozhen's love could only ever be romantic love, and couldn't withstand the everyday realities of life (there's a reason people say to marry within your social class), so she had one of them die. No one can compete with the dead, after all. I'll do my best to dig deeper into this man!
8. This story contains some outrageous twists! Only come in if you can handle them!
