I Fell for That Monk

One-on-one romance, happy ending. Blurb: Everyone in Yuanzhou City knows that Lin Ge, the eldest daughter of the Four Seas Escort Agency, is a lawless little tyrant. She looks sweet and charming, but she loves her drink and her food. When she dresses as a man and goes on escort jobs with her father, even the bandits in the nearby mountains give her a wide berth. Lin's father watches his lively, spirited daughter with a silly grin every day, while her mother worries herself sick. Her daughter is already past the age of fifteen. Where is she supposed to find a husband for her? The young monk Wuchen was found in a bamboo basket by a stream and brought back to the mountain by his abbot before he was even a month old. He lived in a small temple for twenty years, until he reached adulthood. Prompted by his master's words, “If you have never left the world, how can you save it?” Wuchen left the temple for the first time. The first time the two met, there was a huge misunderstanding. Lin Ge kicked Wuchen from behind, sending him sprawling. When Wuchen brushed the dust off himself, stood up, pressed his palms together, and called her “female benefactor,” Lin Ge felt the world go quiet... This monk was way too handsome! Lin Ge took Wuchen home. Seeing that her usually lively daughter had suddenly gone quiet, Lin's mother was delighted. “Please stay at our home a while longer, Master. It would be wonderful if you could teach my daughter to read and write.” So Lin's father set out alone on his next escort job, never suspecting that the cargo in the chest would change everyone's life. Every day, Lin Ge would happily chase after Wuchen and call, “Monk, won't you look at me?” Wuchen would always press his palms together and murmur, “Amitabha.” Until Wuchen pulled Lin Ge tightly into his arms and choked out, “Ge'er, please open your eyes and look at me again, won't you?” A trace of blood welled at the corner of Lin Ge's lips, and then she couldn't help giggling. If your name belongs to the mortal world, then I was never meant to belong to the Buddha.
