A pampered, clingy, silly little princess x a victorious general
When the late emperor was on the throne, Xue Man was the most doted-on little princess in Great Qi. When a young general entered the palace to receive a reward, she rudely stopped him. She said the murderous aura about him had frightened her, and that she had accidentally broken her jade bracelet, so he had to pay for it.
The palace attendants broke out in a cold sweat, but no one dared to intervene.
Her elder brother sent word that the general must not wear this sword, and that she had to deliver the message no matter what.
She still resented him for leaving without a word. How could she possibly tell him nicely? Making a fuss was much easier.
The pampered little princess bent down and fiddled with the sword at his waist.
"Not a bad sword. It'll just about cover the cost of my jade bracelet."
Several years later, the third prince ascended the throne. After she injured an envoy, her brother banished her to the imperial mausoleum.
When she next saw the victorious general, she was in dire straits and anxiously sought his protection. As night fell, she clutched his sleeve in the forest and pleaded with tear-filled eyes, "Don't leave me behind."
Xue Man had never begged anyone in her life, but now she had no choice but to rely on the man she had offended. She both hoped and feared.
Xue Wen clenched his hand, searching his mind for words to comfort her. He hadn't expected her to say nothing at all. One pitiful look from her, and his heart softened.
Everyone thought he had handed over his famous sword because he had no choice.
He could kill enemies just as well with another sword. And when snow blanketed a thousand miles of borderland, it was still the winter coat she had put away that kept him warm.
He won a hundred battles and slew countless enemies.
The only thing that made him hurt and bleed like an ordinary person was his heart, which longed for her.
#She alone was the heart and soul he had shaped from his own flesh and blood.
#All his tenderness belonged to one person

Little scene 1:
When she was young, Xue Man's mother and the Duchess talked about a new shipment of pearls.
Xue Man pricked up her ears when she heard them say "a whole boxful" and started crying, demanding to play with them.
The commotion in the hall alerted the emperor. After hearing the palace maid explain, Xue Man's eyes brimmed with tears as she insisted in her baby voice, "That's right, a whole boxful!"
The emperor burst out laughing and immediately ordered someone to bring the little princess a box of lustrous South Sea pearls.
Word got around, and everyone learned that a single tear from the little princess could be exchanged for a hundred pearls, making them even rarer than mermaid tears.
