Ji Shu is the protagonist’s foil, assigned to the Cannon Fodder Division. Its members are exceptionally beautiful, yet often suffer face-slapping and are universally disliked.
Ji Shu and the System were so broke they could barely afford food, so they agreed to take a shot at a big score.
System: “Stop going head-to-head with the protagonist. Pick someone else. I’ll tell you who to go after.”
After careful consideration, Ji Shu solemnly agreed, his face so pretty it was almost unreal.
[The Real and Fake Young Master]
In a warm white shirt, with delicate, lovely features, the boy was always sitting quietly in the same spot and seemed not to talk much.
Ji Changyuan passed the old house several times and saw him only with his head bowed, sunlight falling on his slightly curled hair.
“Do you sit here to sun yourself?” Ji Changyuan asked one day as he passed by.
The boy looked up at him. His light brown eyes seemed a little gentle, yet held the cool detachment of someone untouched by the ways of the world. He gazed back at Ji Changyuan in quiet bewilderment.
He said nothing. Ji Changyuan tried speaking to him several times before he finally gave a soft, delicate “Mm.”
Somehow, looking at him made Ji Changyuan, a man with a heart of stone, soften.
Only later did he learn the truth.
This was the pampered young master from his cousin’s family. He had only learned at eighteen that he’d been switched at birth, while the real heir had been left outside, growing up among the filth and squalor, his fair face worn and weary from the smoke.
Who wouldn’t say it was a tragedy?
Yet Ji Shu, who had enjoyed so many good years that belonged to the heir, remained cool and indifferent when the real one returned. He was an ungrateful, cold-hearted wretch.
That was what everyone said.
And so Ji Shu was nearly kicked out.
Eighteen-year-old Ji Shu had beautiful light brown eyes that seemed gentle, though they often held a cool detachment, as if he knew nothing of the world. His short, flaxen hair curled slightly, making him look like a cute cat.
Looking at him, Ji Changyuan found he couldn’t bear to let him go.
He took Ji Shu home and doted on him more and more, cherishing him with all his heart. When Ji Shu went out and got lost, he finally learned how to find his way home.
Holding him in his arms, Ji Changyuan truly didn’t know how else to love him.
Ji Shu was lifted onto the man’s lap. Ji Changyuan kissed him from above, and he obediently opened his mouth. The hand at his waist immediately loosened its grip a little.
The touch, which had been a little forceful, turned gentle and casual.
Ji Shu seemed not to understand, so he spaced out and closed his mouth again. Ji Changyuan noticed and raised a hand to smack his butt.
