[Chang'an Illusion Night] Dusk on the Orchid Shore

I've forgotten which year's Mid-Autumn Festival it was, and I can't remember what was written on the river lanterns, but I still remember what Gu Shisiniang said then: “Why not just go find a woman!?”

That night, he thought of many things.

He remembered the smile on Yae's face as she gave him the stray dog at the night market;

he remembered the first time he met Yae;

he remembered Yae's devotion to the cats that had died;

he remembered Yae Xue's face in the sunlight at the Hibiscus Cottage...

In the twenty-seventh year of the Kaiyuan era, a poem circulated widely through Chang'an. Its author is unknown.

It read: “Today, orchids bloom by the shore; from this day on, my longing ends. Tomorrow, their fragrance will drift away, and I will enter Chang'an alone.”

One more thing, as recorded in the book:

Orchids by the shore must be nurtured with blood to shine in the dark. Their blooming season is very short, which is why they are often found in graveyards.

Note: This is fanfiction, based on Hanlu's illustrated manga Chang'an Illusion Night. Some lines and plot points are the same as in the manga, so please don't casually report me for plagiarism! If you don't know what “fanfiction” means, go ask Baidu~ T T

Also, if you're a stickler for historical accuracy, read at your own risk. Take it seriously and you'll lose.

As usual, this is clean, with no explicit content.

Because of time and word-count limits, I forgot some of the foreshadowing... If I ever publish a book, I'll fix it. If I don't... well, my laziness knows no bounds = =
