[Yuan Xu/All Xu] Kalan Mingwang

Legend has it that five hundred years ago, in an age of the Five Rebellions and a world steeped in corruption, the demonic path flourished and wreaked havoc among humankind. At that time, the World-Honored One, Shakyamuni, returned with the Buddhas, vanquished the evil paths, and restored peace to the world.

Before returning to the celestial realm, the Buddha, in his compassion, sent one of his countless incarnations into the human world, where it would remain forever, reincarnating again and again to save all living beings.

This incarnation always appeared in the form of a boy, and his appearance never changed from one life to the next. A white Vajra tiger guardian was always by his side.

After four generations, his disciples honored him as the Kalan Mingwang. They gathered together and built a place of cultivation deep in the mountains, which they named Kalan Palace. There, they quietly awaited the reincarnation of the Kalan Mingwang’s chosen child in each life, so he could return to the human world and lead them in their cultivation...

I actually wrote this last August. I’ve always wanted to write an original story set against a Buddhist and Daoist backdrop, and I thought that if I didn’t post this one, I might be able to use some of its plot points later (gets smacked). But as I’ve continued thinking about that original story up to now, it’s gone in a completely different direction from Kalan Mingwang, so there’s no need to keep this one under wraps. I might as well post it on Jinjiang too.

When I first planned this story, I intended it to have no romantic feelings of “that sort” at all, so when I serialized it on the forum, I tagged it “ALL Xu,” meaning that everyone would follow Mu Mu in his cultivation. But after Yuan Lang appeared, as someone whose one true pairing is Yuan Lang and Xu, I eventually steered the story toward Yuan Lang and Xu. Ahem.

Some of you may find it strange that I chose Xu Sanduo as the reincarnated child, a great cultivator. He seems nothing like the “handsome” living Buddhas people often see online. He’s just an inconspicuous, overly ordinary guy. The latter half of the story will explain this. But if you know nothing about Buddhism, you might find it a little hard to follow. No worries, questions are welcome~ XD
