Cut down the cassia tree's shadows...
They say the moonlight will shine even brighter.
"He is like the moon in the sky, while I am merely mortal. I cannot force him to be mine."
"...But what if he is the one doing the forcing?"
A cliched, melodramatic story.
Outline version:
A deity descends to the mortal realm to undergo a trial, but something goes wrong and he becomes an amnesiac beggar. A reclusive mortal woman takes him in, and he falls in love with her, openly courting her until she accepts.
On the day he is supposed to propose, his memories return and his trial ends. He promptly turns his back on her, abandons his wife, and returns to the heavens. The mortal woman, heartbroken, marries someone else. Later, the deity regrets everything and crashes her wedding to steal her away.
May I be like the stars, and you like the moon, our light shining together night after night.
