From that day on, she made soup and went for walks with other men. When she saw him, she treated him like he wasn't there, smiled, and turned away.

Before long, You Tian was cornered outside her home.

Lu Jingtong's face was cold, his voice low and quiet. “Can't you see me?”

You Tian blinked, utterly innocent. “You told me to stay away from you...”

Before she could finish, his tall frame pressed down on her with overwhelming force, and he planted a scorching kiss on her lips.

As their lips and teeth grazed, You Tian hissed and took two steps back. “Professor Lu, what's wrong with you?”

The man pressed his lips together. After a long moment, he let out a soft laugh.

What she didn't know was this:

Reporters swarmed her home, but Shen Congyan, who had been gone for ages, appeared just then. “My wife and I are very much in love. There's no question of divorce.”

One reporter refused to give up, but a menacing look stopped him before he could get a word out.

In the car, thinking of all the strange coincidences, Xu Xingning eyed him suspiciously. “You didn't set this up, did you?”

Shen Congyan's expression was cold as he curled his lips into a mocking smile. “If I wanted to do something to you, would I need to go to all that trouble?”

“Oh.” Xu Xingning turned away, missing the strange look that flickered through the man's eyes.

She had suspected him more than once, but this was the one time she'd gotten it right.

The rose he had spoiled with his own hands had left his palms full of thorns. It hurt, but he was willing to bear it.
