[Woman disguised as a man / Forced pursuit]

[Clear-headed, resilient beauty x cool, chaste imperial uncle]

Shen Wantang is the legitimate daughter of the Marquis of Ningyuan, but she was sent away to live with her maternal grandfather in Qingzhou for years. After returning to the capital, her stepmother arranges her marriage to a notorious wastrel, and she meets a tragic end.

After having a prophetic dream, she unexpectedly finds refuge at Yunlu Academy.

Mr. Yanshan is peerlessly handsome, cold-hearted, and so distant he seems inhuman. Yet for her, he breaks through his reserve: "Wait for me to return, and I'll marry you."

A palace banquet drags her into a whirlpool of imperial marriage arrangements. Seeing him racing back on horseback, Shen Wantang gives a chilly smile. "I approached you only to escape an arranged marriage and find refuge. Now that fate has given me a good match, please stop pursuing me."

But when she turns around, he has become Xiao Heng, the Regent who commands a vast army and wields power over the entire court. He grips her chin, his voice icy to the bone yet burning with madness:

"Do you think my lessons came free?"

"You used me and now you want to run? Shen Wantang, don't even think about it."

After the princes' rebellion is crushed, Xiao Heng ascends the throne by force. The officials bow their heads, lamenting that Shen Wantang once offended the new emperor and must surely have perished by now.

But at this very moment, Shen Wantang is held in the new emperor's arms. Her slender body trembles slightly, and through her misty, tear-filled eyes, she looks all the more helpless.

Xiao Heng's voice is low and hoarse. "Since you can't bear to part with this splendor, I'll give you something even better. Tomorrow is the coronation ceremony, my empress."
