[Dog turns into a man; Howling Celestial Dog's quest to win back his love]

Shu Xuan, a professor in the Chinese department at M University, has always had a smooth life, with no financial worries and no love or hate to trouble him. But lately he's been having trouble sleeping: insomnia and sleep paralysis are taking a heavy toll. After doctors, remedies, prayer, and worship all fail, he turns to metaphysics for help: getting a pet.

He wants a cute cat, but through a twist of fate, he ends up bringing home a Labrador that looks like a strange mishmash of animals?

Then he discovers that this dog is actually the Howling Celestial Dog, and that they shared a past-life bond?

At first, he's against the idea, but then he realizes the other one is the perfect wife: always there when needed, considerate, a gracious host, and a wonderful cook.

Shu Xuan: So, was I that dog in my past life or something?

Side character: No, you were the one who got done by the dog.

Shu Xuan: ???
