This is a fanfic based on "Rolling Love". Since it is a short story, none of the characters gets a full background introduction. In the original TV series, Mi Qilin (played by Jiro Wang) and Leng Lie (played by Danson Tang) are friends who enjoy testing their cooking skills against each other. But they both fall in love with Guan Xiaoshu, making them rivals as well as friends.
The finale of "Rolling Love" is brutal to Leng Lie: he injures the left hand he relies on, his father commits suicide, Guan Xiaoshu chooses Mi Qilin, and Leng Lie boards a plane and leaves alone...
But in the eyes of female fanfic writers, "Rolling Love" is really a love story between Mi and Leng. One of them ignores his true feelings because he wants to make Guan Xiaoshu happy, while the other is such a scatterbrain that he never figures out what he feels. The two of them end up missing each other because of one misunderstanding after another.
But separation always has a way of reminding people. You don't know what you have until it's gone. And so this sequel, though it isn't really a continuation, came to be.
