I, a Saint, Eloped with an Incubus [Western Fantasy]

Cathy was raised under the protection of the Church and revered as the "Saint."

Her fate was to offer her pure, untainted soul to the gods one day.

When she turned eighteen, Cathy officially took up the duties of the Saint and was sent to the temple. But something about the place seemed strange.

The vast, brightly lit sanctuary was empty of clergy. The "god" who had taken human form lounged carelessly atop his own statue, his raven-black hair falling loose and revealing an eerily beautiful face.

The bewildered Saint knelt before the statue, afraid to look up. She failed to notice the horns that briefly appeared above his brow, or his heart-shaped tail.

Smiling, he leapt down from the statue and gently stroked her cheek, luring her with his words: "Come, be my bride."

In all her eighteen years, Cathy had never imagined that one day she would abandon her duties as the Saint and elope with an incubus.

Incubi are the lowest and weakest of the demon races. Agniel endured humiliation and schemed his way to the top, only to be casually bullied by his own kind and trampled underfoot by the world that is loved by the gods. So he came to hate everything.

He was vile and cunning, skilled at seduction and deceit. He would stain what was pure, fill the blameless with desire, and free her from the shackles of theocracy, all to take revenge on that supreme, eternal being.

So why, in the end, was he willing to kneel before her, kiss the tips of her toes, and beg for the mercy of her love?

Reader's Guide:

1. An audacious incubus steals the Saint away and elopes with her (crossed out).

2. Nonhuman romance: the beautiful, strong, miserable (but pure-hearted) incubus Agniel × the pure, kind (but unfeeling) Saint Cathy. Both are inexperienced in love. A monster × someone even more monstrous. A childhood friend brought together by fate.

3. Romance-focused, sweet, one-on-one, happy ending.

4. Blurb archived on 2023/01/17. My take on Western fantasy, with plenty of original worldbuilding. Set in the same universe as The Princess and Her Tamed Demon.
