The story of an NPC with top-tier stats gradually awakening, then discovering that their world has been transmigrated into so thoroughly it's full of holes.
The Special Affairs Administration is also known as the Transmigration Administration. Ever since the method of transmigrating into books was discovered, underground groups have been rampant, secretly livestreaming illegal transmigrations. To prevent law-abiding taxpayers from getting killed in small worlds before they can generate any value, the Administration has to assign staff to bring them back once they've served their sentences.
However, some small worlds don't yet realize they're just one among countless worlds.
This makes the retrieval work especially difficult.
Take, for example, this melodramatic novel by Anonymous, You Are My Medicine.
The protagonist is the real young master of a wealthy family, switched at birth and raised elsewhere. The male lead is an illegitimate son who rises to power despite suffering from severe insomnia. Touching the protagonist helps ease his insomnia.
The male lead's younger brother is the protagonist's ex-boyfriend, and tells him that the male lead has a wealthy young master's white moonlight. That white moonlight turns out to be the fake young master who switched lives with the protagonist...
A melodramatic romance about four people from wealthy families, complete with all the classics: an assassination attempt, kidnapping, a dark room in the entertainment industry, and going abroad. Devoted male side characters are a dime a dozen. It's an absolute assault on common sense.
How were they supposed to handle a world like this? The moment the protagonists lifted a finger, the Administration's staff would be dragged off and drowned.
Just as the Administration was at its wit's end, they were delighted to discover that someone in this small world had begun to awaken.
This was their breakthrough for retrieving their citizens! But before the Administration could celebrate, they saw a few surviving clips from the illegal transmigrators.
Lin Lang answered the phone. "Director Ji, our research institute does have a mental health training program, but there are always people with greater expertise in this field."
The male lead, who was investigating whether the protagonist had poisoned him: "...I don't have delusions."
Lin Lang: "Really? You genuinely believe that someone with no psychological issues could be healthy and energetic for the first thirty years of his life, then suddenly develop insomnia, and only be able to fall asleep after physical contact with the person he rescued, with one hour of sleep for him equaling four for a normal person?"
Ji Xuan: "..."
Lin Lang: "With all due respect, Director Ji, admitting to delusions is probably the more dignified choice. Schizophrenia is also a possibility."
The clip ended.
The image immediately changed. The camera pointed at the ground, shaking constantly.
Ji Xuan's voice asked, "What is it?"
Someone replied, "Nothing."
A hand suddenly covered the lens.
Lin Lang's voice seemed to come from right beside the microphone behind the camera, softly bursting in the listener's ear.
He said, "Number six."
Administration: !!! Taxpayer in danger!
Theme: People are shaped by heredity, environment, and their own actions.
