When Song Chu was defeated, the delicate and seemingly frail Feng Qingyan accepted the imperial decree for a political marriage and said, "I'll go."
The Feng family had guarded Song Chu for generations, their loyalty unwavering. Whether it was for the ruler, the nation, the people, or her family, she would do whatever was required.
After that, she became the woman of Murong Xiao, the eldest prince of Wu Qiang. As a woman sent to marry into the family of a sworn enemy, she was naturally in for a miserable life.
The night she finally managed to smuggle out Wu Qiang's military deployment map, Murong Xiao flew into a rage. He ordered her execution the next day, intending to hang her head on Wu Qiang's city wall to intimidate the people of Song Chu.
That night, she set fire to her residence. Amid the raging flames, she saw someone rushing toward her, screaming her name in anguish.
With her dying breath, she smiled and said, "Murong, you lost."
But she was the one who lost! Her soul drifted through the air, watching Murong Xiao lead Wu Qiang's army into Song Chu.
When Song Chu fell, that man took his own life before the throne.
As he drew his final breath, he smiled and murmured to himself, "You're the one who lost. You wanted to leave me behind, but I won't let you have your way!"
By a stroke of luck, she was reborn, and her whole family was still alive, healthy and safe.
She no longer wanted to be a sacrifice in the struggle between two nations. Kneeling before her parents, she asked firmly, "Father, Mother, who have we been risking our lives to protect, the nation or the ruler? And have we been protecting a foolish ruler or a wise one?"
Her parents came to their senses, and Song Chu was transformed overnight.
In this life, Feng Qingyan resolved never to see that man again. She would live out her days in happiness with the man she married. But just before her wedding, a man rode alone into the capital of Song Chu and personally presented a treaty of friendship between the two nations. His only condition was that Feng Qingyan, the youngest daughter of the Feng family, be sent to marry into his country.
She tore up the imperial decree and turned to leave, only to be caught by the man. His eyes were bloodshot and fierce, his murderous aura just as intense as in her previous life. Gripping her wrist, he gritted his teeth. "Feng Qingyan, are you going to leave me behind again this time?"
