After Switching Bodies with the Tyrant

The year Meng Yunze entered the palace, her father earnestly hoped she would win the emperor's favor and bring honor to the family.

But three years passed, and not only had she failed to earn his favor, she had barely even seen the emperor.

She didn't care much. She tended flowers and played with birds, content to take life easy. The lazier she was, the happier she felt. She'd have to be out of her mind to get involved in palace intrigue.

She thought this carefree life would last a long time, until one day.

Meng Yunze opened her eyes and saw Eunuch Chang, the chief eunuch serving the emperor, gazing at her kindly.

"Your Majesty, it's time to choose a consort."

Meng Yunze: "Uh... what?"

This doesn't seem right.

The emperor had a secret: every month, there were a few days he couldn't remember at all. He had never told anyone.

Until one day...

The emperor woke up and noticed something missing from his bed, so he called in the eunuch who served him.

"Why wasn't incense burned today?"

The eunuch reminded him cautiously, "You bestowed that incense on Lady Meng yesterday."

"And the pillow?"

The eunuch stammered for a long while before murmuring, "You told this servant to send it to Lady Meng."

"And this quilt?"

The eunuch lowered his head even further. "You said it was too thick, so you told this servant to replace it with a lighter one."

The emperor asked, "Then what happened to the quilt you took away?"

"You said... you said to give it to Lady Meng."

The emperor laughed in anger and strode toward the door.

"Your Majesty! Your Majesty, where are you going at this hour?" the eunuch called, hurrying after him.

The emperor swept his sleeve in fury. "I'm going to see Lady Meng, who's emptied out half my bedchamber!"
