Lin Zhaozhao is a contracted author on Green River, notorious for all sorts of long breaks between updates. After abandoning her work and running away for who knows how many times, she transmigrates into a book, specifically an unfinished cultivation novel, where she becomes a cannon-fodder female supporting character.
She rejects the situation outright, both because she hates her new identity and because the timing of her transmigration is rather awkward.
The plot has reached the point where she drugs the heroine, intending to frame her for sleeping with someone and drive a wedge between the male and female leads.
According to the plot, once her crime is exposed, the original character will be gifted a complete package: her cultivation will be crippled, her bones and flesh will be carved away, and her soul will be scattered into oblivion.
Lin Zhaozhao: If someone has to die, let it be you. I'm not dying.
To save herself, Lin Zhaozhao drops to her knees before the heroine and knocks her head against the floor three times.
Dignity? You can have it!
The book's plot can be summed up in one sentence: After a series of misunderstandings, schemes, and emotional and physical torment, the male lead and the heroine, his substitute for the woman he once loved, get their happy ending. The original character is merely a cannon-fodder supporting character in their tragic love story.
Lin Zhaozhao: If I can't afford to offend them, I can at least get away from them. The best of the Thirty-Six Stratagems is to run.
At that moment, the System kindly and helpfully reminds her: Dear, we recommend that you first help the original world complete its plot. Otherwise, you'll die, okay?
They can cultivate immortality, but they still have to deal with this damn angsty romance? Lin Zhaozhao is speechless. But with a mission to complete and her life on the line, she can only grit her teeth and accept it. From then on, Lin Zhaozhao devotes herself to frantic self-rescue and getting the plot back on track.
And so, the following scenes unfold:
When the male lead breaks the heroine's heart, Lin Zhaozhao says: You're a queen, shine with confidence, become a ray of light, and illuminate the whole world.
When the male lead tries to dig out the heroine's golden core, Lin Zhaozhao says: You don't have to love her, but please don't hurt her. Love isn't something you can buy just because you want to.
Later, when the demon race appears and throws the mortal world into chaos, Lin Zhaozhao says: Since I'm already here, I might as well save the world too.
