An Old Acquaintance Rises from the Dead

Yan Jun transmigrated to another world, rose to high office as both a general and a statesman, and received a glorious funeral. When he opened his eyes again, not only had spiritual qi revival begun, but his descendants had even started robbing his tomb. If he wanted to set his unworthy descendants straight with proper authority, he first needed a legal identity. Unfortunately, the official in charge of this district not only looked more and more like Yan Jun’s political rival from back then, but also seemed to have mysterious connections behind the scenes. A thought struck Yan Jun. If he could coax the truth out of this guy and pass it on to the right people, perhaps he could do more than just get his status as an undocumented person regularized. Maybe he could even get his old government post back? … Xue Tan remembered his previous life, especially that formidable rival. His old friend had long since been laid to rest. Looking after his tomb now was simply part of Xue Tan’s duties. Until one day, an anomalous object claiming to be a cultural relic slipped past the cordon and started asking around about identity, government posts, and inheritance. Xue Tan decided to play along, following the man’s lead to see if he could draw out something bigger. But little by little, that tone, that temper, and the words between the lines began to remind him more and more of someone. Someone who should have been buried in that place. … Until the day their fates tightened at the same time, and the two of them reeled in their lines and stared at each other. “...It’s you?” “It’s you!” #No wonder he looks like an old friend.
