The Nineteenth-Century Banker’s Maid

New novel, coming soon. Please add it to your favorites: Nineteenth-century New York City was dazzling and extravagant, awash in luxury. The Wilsons were a banking dynasty, the aristocrats among aristocrats, with more money than they could spend. No one in New York dared to provoke them.

Colin Wilson, who had taken over the family business, saw his younger brother Ian kissing the family's Asian maid. He warned his brother not to get too serious and to just have fun. Those women were all lowborn climbers hoping to marry into wealth and become high society. The family would only allow him to marry a woman of equal standing.

He looked down on the Asian maid, too. His scrutinizing gaze branded her as a mercenary, money-grubbing social climber who didn't know her place.

Colin cornered the maid in the bathroom and slammed the door shut behind him. Furious, he demanded, "When are you going to make our relationship public?"

"Mr. Wilson, you're twelve years older than me. You're only an elder to me. We have no relationship at all. I'm your brother's girlfriend, and I love Ian. A lowly maid like me could never aspire to marry a noble banker like you. Please behave yourself!"

Author's note: Two brothers competing for the same woman.
