The Newly Widowed Woman Marries a Powerful Official

Yin Han, Commander of the Palace Guard, is a brilliant young talent, renowned across the Three Rivers and celebrated throughout the Nine Provinces. He is the ideal son-in-law in the eyes of every high-ranking official in the capital.

Xue Zhaoxiang, Vice Minister of Works, holds a banquet hoping to arrange a marriage with him. The Xue family has three unmarried daughters, each beautiful and talented, but Yin Han chooses at first sight Fourth Miss Xue Heyi, who is standing off to the side pouring tea.

The fourth miss is indeed beautiful, but she has been married before. Her husband died on their wedding night, and all kinds of unsavory rumors about her are circulating.

Xue Zhaoxiang reminds him, "Would you like to think it over, sir?"

"No need. I choose her."

On their wedding night, Yin Han shows no patience with his new bride. "Did you bring what I asked for?"

Xue Heyi takes out the item he wants and lays down three conditions:

1. We each get what we want and don't interfere with each other.

2. We won't share a bed or have children.

3. We'll divorce after three years.

"Commander, you won't go back on your word, will you?"

Yin Han gives a disdainful snort. "Whoever goes back on their word can call me Grandpa."

Later, the usually arrogant Commander humbles himself before Xue Heyi, standing deferentially and trying to ingratiate himself. "My lady, would you mind having another grandchild?"
