Humanity in the Forbidden Zone

Blurb: The wind howled and rain poured down as thunder roared. Jiang Er held his little brother and stared wide-eyed at the huge tree in the courtyard outside the window. The tree was glowing. The rickety wooden house swayed as if it might collapse at any moment. Laifu barked furiously by the door, and Jiang Er squeezed his eyes shut. Only when the storm finally passed did he slowly open his eyes, get out of bed, and open the door. The huge tree in the courtyard had shot up into the sky overnight. Its top was nowhere to be seen. Outside the courtyard, the fields had vanished. In their place stood grass as tall as a person. A colossal monster shaped like a red-haired mammoth trumpeted as it fought a black bird covered in flowers from head to toe. The flower-covered bird flapped its wings, sending a gale sweeping in. Jiang Er swayed in the wind like a helpless little bean sprout. The next moment, the tree reached down with a vine, hooked it around his waist, and held him in place. He was holding his two-year-old brother, with a mutt crouched beside him. Two giant beasts were fighting just outside the courtyard, while strange vines kept rubbing against him. Jiang Er looked utterly bewildered: ... H-Help? * The Boundless Continent is home to many forbidden zones. The most terrifying is the Primordial Wilderness, where disasters strike without end and monsters roam freely. Not a single explorer who has tried to venture deep inside has ever made it back out. An elf once said that if even one monster from the Primordial Wilderness got out, an entire nation could disappear overnight. Fortunately, the monsters of the Primordial Wilderness never leave their home. But during the Kongjing Era, the Primordial Wilderness suddenly descended into chaos. Countless monsters surged toward the entrance to the forbidden zone, seemingly intent on invading the continent. As everyone feared for their lives, believing the continent was about to be destroyed, the monsters turned back. All they left at the entrance was a frail black-haired boy holding a child and leading a dog. The races, all prepared to fight to the death: ... Huh?? Who's that?!
