My Game's Storyline Is So Rich

Complete. If it says there's an update, that just means I'm fixing typos! Check out my author page for more completed stories, ongoing stories, and upcoming ideas. You're welcome to take a look! [Blurb] Every player who enters the post-apocalyptic virtual reality game Rebuild and Survive receives a talent skill based on their real-life abilities or hobbies. "That monster almost caught me. Good thing I have the High-Speed Running skill," bragged the athletic player. "I almost got stuck in an ice trap. Good thing I have the Energy Storage skill." For the first time, the chubby player realized how useful his build could be. When Li Fangui entered the game, he discovered that his skill was: Read~the~Plot~ It didn't increase his attack, defense, constitution, speed, charm, or intelligence by even one point. His storage capacity and equipment drop rate weren't any better than anyone else's, either. It only let him read plot descriptions from NPCs that were more artfully written and vividly described. ...Could there be a more good-for-nothing skill? But he soon discovered that Read the Plot wasn't so simple: Why go to the trouble of describing the scenery in a little grove in the quest description? Could it be hinting at a surprise hidden in the bushes? That NPC seemed to be sighing over the passage of spring for no reason. Was he saying that following the route the NPC described would grant an extra reward? The boss they had to fight spouted a bunch of nonsensical gibberish. Was it actually hinting at a hidden quest? A few days later, players across the server were dumbfounded. A player with unremarkable stats completed every quest quickly and perfectly, took almost no damage, and kept finding the game's deeply buried easter eggs. "Li Fangui, that's cheating!" "We strongly condemn that player for using hacks!" Li Fangui: I'm not. I just used my talent skill. Later: Coworker: "Brother Fan, help me clear this quest and I'll buy your lunches for a week." Buddy: "Boss Li, you've got mountains of gold. Spare me a coin, would you? I can't afford to repair my gear." Other players: "I can't believe I'm in a party with the top player on the server. We can coast to a win on this quest, too." [Reading Guide] Told from the male protagonist's perspective, with no romance. The protagonist's close relationships with men and women are purely friendship or family affection. No romantic plot or ambiguous relationships. Set in an alternate future. A full-dive MMORPG with a main storyline and relatively self-contained quest instances. Most of the story focuses on playing the game and completing quests. There are a few farming and base-building elements in the game, as part of quests, and a little of the protagonist's work and daily life outside the game.
