Early on: a selfish, snobbish jerk. Midway: a dramatic queen, a sweet honey bean. Later: a little hero whose personality blossoms. Slytherin bitch of a heroine x Hufflepuff moonlight boy, the embodiment of goodness who keeps shining forever.
The only romance is with Cedric. The heroine is a sharp-tongued queen, an absolute menace, and maxed out in combat skills. There's a reason she acts so terribly early on, though she won't do anything completely without principles or limits. Still, she's not exactly kind (if that's not your thing, don't read).
With Cedric's sunny warmth, she finds a firm belief, something she wants to protect, and the will to fight for it. You could say they save each other: Cedric saves the heroine's character, and even her heart. The heroine saves Cedric, in the literal sense. You know what I mean.
Some details:
1. In the original, Cedric starts school at twelve. During the Triwizard Tournament, he's in his sixth year and is seventeen. The heroine starts at the usual age of eleven, and in this story she's one year below Cedric, making her two years younger than him.
2. The original doesn't specify the position of the Fawley family, so I made up my own setting.
3. Most of the Quidditch team rosters for each house are my own setting.
Theme: Questions of love and prejudice.
