Blurb:
Three years ago, the entire Feng family was convicted of a crime. The men were exiled, and the women were forced into prostitution. The one who came to deliver the imperial decree was Chang Zongze, the eldest Feng daughter's fiance.
Feng Mei asked him, "After today, will you still marry me?"
Chang Zongze answered, "I will. I will never let you down, for all my life."
What a tender, moving promise. Too bad... it was the Chang family who had framed the Fengs.
Feng Mei stepped back, lowering her eyes as she bowed gracefully to him. "Thank you for your affection, sir. But from now on, these lips will be kissed by ten thousand men. I'd rather marry a pig or a dog than you."
But three years later, Feng Mei had neither become a prostitute nor married a pig or a dog. Disguised as a man, she had transformed herself into a constable.
Her first assignment was to escort her former lover, now her sworn enemy, all the way to the capital, where he would be executed after the autumn harvest.
Content notes: A completely fictional setting. The male lead is devoted, the female lead is ruthless. A nontraditional "winning back his wife" story: only the man suffers, not the woman. One-on-one romance, both leads are virgins, happy ending.
