On the day the being named Saijia awoke, countless shimmering reflections suddenly appeared across the sky screen. They were the gaze and return of "evolution."
Every species in the cosmos trembled uneasily, instinctively straining to sound a brief warning shriek.
Only a certain kind of creature, scattered in small numbers across every corner and living among other swarms of insects in a daze, all looked toward the stars at once.
"Good morning, good evening." The being who would one day be revered by countless civilizations as the [Crimson Creator] and the [Path Eternal] spoke to the starry sky with delight. "It's time for me to begin a new job."
A few things to know before reading. If this isn't your thing, please steer clear:
* This is not the Jinjiang-style insectoid genre. It mainly draws on the kind of StarCraft/Warhammer 40K system where the Overmind and the will of the hive take precedence. This is purely an indulgence of my personal tastes.
* If I have to describe the pairing, it's narcissistic love: Rationality (the Overmind) x Sensibility (Saijia). At its core, they're different manifestations of the same consciousness. Don't expect romance. They don't have a romance module.
* There are instances of subordinates x the Overmind's avatars, but there is no sexual or romantic love between them. Their underlying emotions are fervent faith and loyalty. I won't describe anything too explicit, but feel free to ship them as you like.
* Insectoid love and sex follow two separate logics. Don't apply human social thinking to the insectoid species' behavior in this story, and don't hold them to real-world human moral standards.
* No self-insert fantasies or cosplay versions of any characters. They're all my personal OCs. I don't make a living writing; I just don't want to be alone, so I'm sharing this story and its setting.
