Chu Mei, the top courtesan of Juan Zhu Lou, has been arrested and thrown in prison!
The charge: murdering the young heir of the Duke of Xuan's household.
The young lady of the Duke of Qi's household pulls strings everywhere for Chu Mei, while the young lady of the General's household runs all over town to protect Chu Mei and ensure her safety.
The yamen constables are at their wits' end. Can they even investigate this case? And who exactly is the courtesan Chu Mei? They've seen young noblemen spend fortunes for a smile from a beauty, but when have they ever seen noblewomen get riled up for a beauty?
The next day, the real culprit, Jiang Li, planted a sharp dagger in the yamen's front gate, with a jade pendant and a letter hanging from its hilt.
"I never hide my name or change my surname. I am Jiang Li."
