To achieve his goal of annexing the Jiang Kingdom, Lang Shuheng arranged a marriage alliance with the Jiang crown prince, plunging the kingdom into chaos.
Though the emperor's favored choice of heir, he missed out on the throne and became regent.
After plotting to seize power, Lang Shuheng became the new emperor of the Yue Kingdom.
When the time was right, he annexed the Jiang Kingdom and became an empress who ruled over a vast domain.
"Why shouldn't the person who fills Yue's treasury and expands its territory the most become emperor?"
"If it really comes to that, you still have to treat him well, understand?"
"The rebels have already fought their way into the main hall, and he still hasn't done anything wrong?"
"Write an abdication edict, and I won't use the late emperor's decree to depose you."
