At his master's word, a young man sets out to retrieve something that never existed, unaware that his master only said it out of concern for him. He travels onward, stopping here and there, meeting many people. Some become his friends; others are merely fellow travelers who cross his path. He finds a companion who will be his lifelong friend, and his master is relieved.
