King Zhou Refuses to Bring About His Own Downfall [Investiture of the Gods]

[Blurb]

Zi Xin is a model young man, raised under the Party's benevolent light. His only blemish in life is probably sharing a name with King Zhou.

Who could have guessed that one day he'd suddenly transmigrate into the Investiture of the Gods universe, becoming King Zhou of Shang, the tyrant who harassed the Goddess Nüwa, doted on a wicked concubine, persecuted loyal officials, and met a terrible end?

Nüwa, Yuanshi Tianzun, Laozi, and even the Jade Emperor are all watching him like hawks, just waiting for him to bring about his own downfall and set the Investiture of the Gods War in motion.

And so the old ministers are delighted to discover that their king has changed!

He no longer cares for beautiful women or fine wine. He's devoted himself entirely to strengthening the nation and improving people's lives!

Until one day, the king brings back a young man whose looks are the opposite of his personality: upright and so sharp-tongued he can drive people up the wall. But the king acts as if he's blind, doting on the young man so much that he'd give him the stars if he asked, truly treating him like the most pampered person in the world.

Wen Zhong (raising his golden whip high): Your Majesty, for the sake of the kingdom, I must kill this demon!

Zi Xin (stepping in front of him): Stop! You'll regret this!

Wen Zhong (glowering at the young man watching from the sidelines): I won't regret it!

Zi Xin (on the verge of tears): You really will regret it!

Then one day, Wen Zhong returns to the Jie Sect to pay his respects to Sect Master Tongtian, and finally sees the sect master's true face, hidden behind the clouds and mist...

Theme: The fate of humanity should be in human hands, not those of the gods.
