[Hunter X Hunter] Golden Key

"You know? I really like you. Probably more than everyone else in the world put together, because to me, you're the person who seems most like a 'human being.'"

"Being human isn't a species. It's a concept, an ideal form. You're so persistent, so willful, so boldly in pursuit of everything in the world that makes you happy, yet you don't go out of your way to hurt others. That's freedom made manifest. Freedom is the most precious, most treasured thing in this world."

"If anything could embody the world's beauty and make this world less ugly and repulsive, it would be you."

A confession from a cold, ruthless self-loather.

Reading notes:

Third person. The heroine is a transmigrator who has never read Hunter x Hunter. Her original names are Zhou Yiyang and Aurora, but she is referred to as Yun Xiao throughout the story.

Hisoka pairing, one-on-one, with a happy ending.

Specialist Nen type. The body she transmigrates into is already a Nen Ability user, and she starts out with one ability. The protagonist's own Nen Ability isn't developed until the middle of the story. It's called [self], meaning the original self.

The protagonist isn't perfect, and may even be a little unpleasant. Her true nature gradually emerges once she realizes she can't go back. Arrogant and conceited, haughty and rude, numb and avoidant, a habitual liar: all of these describe her. Of course, she has positive traits too: optimistic and cheerful, sunny and generous, kind and compassionate, resolute and brave, and so on. Overall, she's an oddball with both good and bad in her.

A lighthearted story. Although the protagonist has had a tragic life, the author likes easygoing stories and can't handle overtly dark, angst-ridden stuff. If you know any similarly lighthearted stories, feel free to recommend them in the comments.

Finally, OOC warning.
