Ying Lan transmigrates into a tragic GL novel that makes her so furious she spits blood and rages incoherently. Unwillingly, she completes the tasks assigned by the System and becomes an assassin. Then she meets one of the many female supporting characters in the original book, and her plans are thrown into disarray.
She discovers that this woman seems to have everything under control, and is always flirting with her, intentionally or otherwise. She even seems deeply in love with Ying Lan. This leaves Ying Lan puzzled, until one day she sees the System screen that has appeared in front of the woman: "Tomorrow's task: take her boating on the lake, then..."
Only then does Ying Lan understand. The woman is also someone who transmigrated into a book, and her task is to trick Ying Lan into falling in love with her. Furious, Ying Lan turns the tables and keeps following the woman around to sabotage her plans.
At last, the novel ends, and Ying Lan returns to real life. One day, she discovers that the person who had been playing her in the book is actually the novel's author. Now that old enemies have met, a new round of schemes begins, and this time, the enemy is in the open while she stays in the shadows.
