Into the Wilderness

Song Ningzhen's career was taking off and his future looked bright. Just as everything was going his way, someone used his birth details to arrange a ghost marriage for him.

The wronged ghost Mao Nian had died a tragic death. In the dead of night, he pressed down on the head of Song Ningzhen's bed, calling him "wife" again and again.

[The vicious ghost was covered in wounds and blood. Long hair, clotted with blood, hung before his face, revealing half of a bluish-white face. As he walked, filthy chunks of flesh kept falling from him.

Song Ningzhen cowered in a corner, trembling.

The vicious ghost walked step by step toward the cabinet where he was hiding and stopped there, silent for a long time.

He reached out a hand with long nails driven through it and gently knocked on the cabinet door. In a low voice, he called Song Ningzhen by name.

Song Ningzhen was drenched in cold sweat. He clamped a hand over his mouth, too afraid to make a sound.

He had no idea how long he had been hiding in the room.

At last, he worked up the courage to open the door.

In front of the cabinet where he had hidden, at the spot where the vicious ghost had stood, lay a soft, pure white flower.

Its petals fluttered gently in the breeze.

Only then did Song Ningzhen understand that the vicious ghost had stood for so long beneath the blazing sun just to give him that flower.]
