After transmigrating to the era of World War II, Garcia found himself an American businessman working in Poland in 1939. He was utterly at a loss. Before long, this peaceful and prosperous country would be swept up in war, and bloodshed, pain, and despair would spread across the land. Buildings, charred black, would stand hollow and empty, while the gloomy sky swallowed everything.
Should he leave, or stay?
During the bleak days spent avoiding the fighting, he helped a Jewish pianist who had fallen on hard times. The once-celebrated concert pianist was a mess, his suit wrinkled and clinging to him after days without a wash, his short, curly black hair tangled and unkempt. Only his clear, light-brown eyes remained, still beautiful and melancholy, reflecting the eternal azure sky above the ruins. Now their owner was looking at him anxiously.
"Don't be afraid." He heard himself speak in a calm, even tone, though he couldn't quite suppress the tremor in his voice. "I'll protect you during these days."
The sky, the birds, the brilliant starlight in his eyes.
They were the most moving sights he had ever seen.
They were also what he would spend the rest of his life protecting.
P.S. This is just a story about the protagonist transmigrating here and falling in love in a quiet, ordinary way. I just want to write a sweet romance.
P.P.S. I watched The Pianist and suddenly got this idea. I seriously couldn't help myself, sob... Let me scold myself first: I'm crazy. If you don't like it, please don't force yourself to read it. Point out anything that doesn't make sense, and I'll do my best to fix it. (I'm too lazy to look up World War II sources. I just want to finish this quickly, covers face.)
I hope to get loving hugs from all you sweet readers!
