The shou and the gong have been married for a year and a half, and their baby is about to be born, but the two barely know each other.
The marriage was an accident, and so was the pregnancy. The shou is a beta, while the gong is the highest-ranking alpha! Without that accident, no one would have imagined that the cold, heartless gong would actually marry and have a child with a beta.
Nobody believes their marriage will last. They even look down on the ordinary beta shou and the baby about to be born.
But that's all right. The shou knows the gong isn't interested in him and only expects him to fulfill his duties as a partner. All he wants is a comfortable life and a healthy baby for company.
He doesn't have heats or ruts. If pregnancy didn't require the father's pheromones, he wouldn't even need the gong around. He could get through the whole pregnancy on his own.
Once again, late at night, he knocks on the study door as usual, peeking in from behind it with only his pretty eyes showing. He gazes at the tall alpha inside, looking delicate and timid.
"The baby wants your pheromones."
The alpha behind the desk looks up, his gaze unreadable as it settles on him. After what seems like a long moment of thought, he slowly gets to his feet.
He bends down and picks him up. Despite his stern demeanor, his movements are gentle and tender. Looking down at the shou, who's pretending to be weak, he asks in a low voice, "Which baby?"
See? No alpha can resist a delicate, beautiful partner who occasionally throws a little tantrum, even if that partner is a beta.

Their marriage was arranged by their parents. The gong had no interest in romance, and treated his partner by the book, just like a textbook, even after they married.
But the beta was a little unexpected. His premarital profile said he was strong and brave, in excellent physical condition, and enjoyed extreme sports.
So why, after they married, was he always so delicate and reserved around the gong, getting shy when their eyes met and preferring to relax at home?
He read all sorts of books and finally found the answer in 150 Little Things to Know About Your Partner. Apparently, his partner was the theatrical type.
Tripping and falling in front of him meant he wanted a hug.
Looking at him, then lowering his eyes shyly and biting his lip meant he wanted a comforting kiss.
Getting a little angry now and then was a way to spice up their life. He had to do as he was told and soothe him.
The gong was naturally happy to indulge the shou in these little things. A harmonious family would help him build a good image as a businessman, and he didn't want his young partner to find marriage unpleasant.
So he was especially diligent about doing his husbandly duties!
The book said people in bed often said the opposite of what they meant. In other words, whenever his partner cried out that it was too intense and too deep, he was reassuring him. A little discouraged but unwilling to give up, the gong made sure to thrust especially deep every time.
And so, a year later, the beta, who was extremely unlikely to conceive, became pregnant...
It wasn't until much later that the gong learned the shou really was delicate, and that he meant what he said in bed. The premarital profile he'd treasured so much was completely wrong.
So, in the shou's eyes, he was an unfamiliar, stubborn, domineering, overbearing, cold, and lustful alpha.

The gong couldn't accept this. He began observing the shou.
The shou hurt himself again through sheer clumsiness. His eyes reddened with hurt as he carefully blew on the wound, but he didn't ask the gong to comfort him.
He gently stroked his pregnant belly and played music for the baby. When the alarm rang on time, he frowned and seemed a little scared. At last, he worked up the courage to put on a timid, pitiful expression and ask the gong to release soothing pheromones.
When he couldn't resist the gong's advances, he bit his lip and gently pushed him away, turning his head to show a hint of reluctance. Even when he went along with it, he seemed to be suffering in silence.
What really made the gong lose control of his reason was seeing his partner pretend to be single on his private social media feed, where a crowd of people called him "wife"!
Tips: The shou really is very weak-willed and won't change. He can only be accepted, pampered, and loved, but he'll love the gong very much too. Both are each other's first and only partners, and their feelings are mutual. The story starts a year into their marriage and includes flashbacks. The author's descriptions always fall apart, so I suggest you just read the story T~T
Theme: You can only see who someone really is by spending time together
