[The Outlaw Duo Edition]
Xue Ling is the youngest legend in the Empire, a name everyone knows. Born a commoner, she swept aside the heirs trained by the great military academy families and was hailed alongside Jin Cheng of the Jin family as one of the "Empire's Twin Pillars." At twenty, she became the Empire's top interstellar officer. After an interstellar exploration mission, she vanished without a trace, becoming a secret the Empire's upper ranks never speak of.
No one knows that she lies in the core research institute of Upper City, the institute's highest-level experimental subject, code-named "Seven."
The powerful figures of Upper City sit before their screens, enjoying the sight of the former First General and the proud young aristocrat fleeing in all directions from zombies, disasters, and interstellar storms. Then... a rock-hard fist punches through the monitor and lands squarely on the Upper City governor's face.
Xue Ling kicks open the display and steps out of the monitor, baring a row of white teeth amid the crackling sparks. "Old man, enjoying the show?"
"Lingling, that's a terribly rude way to speak," Jin Cheng says, right behind her. He drapes a coat over Xue Ling's shoulders, then politely adds, "We've always held you in the highest regard. I'll count to three. Which way would you like to die?"
[The Military Academy Graduates Edition]
While fleeing, Xue Ling occasionally runs into familiar faces. She asks Jin Cheng, "Haven't we seen this zombie before?"
Jin Cheng looks at the zombie desperately trying to tuck its head into a thick padded coat and nods. "Not only have we seen him, but two crates of grenade launchers fell off him."
Xue Ling thinks for a moment. "I think there was a cannon too."
The zombie tucks itself farther into its coat. It tries so hard that its neck snaps, and its head drops to the ground with a thump.
Xue Ling finds it all too strange. Some of these familiar-looking zombies drop gear, and others drop food. She and Jin Cheng are fleeing through the apocalypse, not playing a battle royale. Surely she isn't the chosen one, with good fortune following her every step?
When they finally fight their way back to Upper City, Xue Ling picks up the military academy's Class 5, Year 3 graduation photo. In the chaotic scene, with everyone throwing their arms around one another and fighting to play the father, she spots several familiar faces. They look rather like the angelic zombies who dropped supplies in Lower City.
Xue Ling looks at everyone
Ji Linglong, Class 5's study committee member: "Nothing like that happened. You can starve for all I care."
Shen Wuyi, Class 5's sports committee member: "Nothing like that happened. It's impossible to stuff a cannon inside your coat. Do you not even know that much?"
Xue Ling: "But I never even said what I was talking about."
Guan Qin rubs his forehead in exasperation. "You two, shut up!"
Everyone: "…"
A hilariously earnest heroine with off-the-charts combat power versus a refined, fussy, falsely gentle hero.
Theme: Love life and strive tirelessly.
