A World We've Never Seen

Grandma often told me that when she was born, the sky was blue, and the ocean was full of whales, dolphins, and all kinds of beautiful creatures.

The world wasn't absurd like it is now.

Back then, I didn't understand, and I didn't know how precious all of that was, because I'd only ever seen those things in documentaries.

Later, I transmigrated to the time when Grandma was young. The world back then was truly beautiful.

“Do you know about nuclear wastewater?”

“In early 2021, Country R announced that it would discharge nuclear wastewater into the ocean, and claimed that the stuff was safe to drink.”

“But in reality, not a single person in Country R dared to drink the nuclear wastewater they claimed to have treated.”

Reader's guide:

1. This story isn't rigorous, and the science is especially far-fetched. Don't read too much into it.

2. The story is set in 2060. The female protagonist transmigrates back to 2018. Told in the third person.

3. The general direction is tragic. I really want to write a perfect ending, but I can't imagine what a happy ending would look like.

4. If Country R really does discharge nuclear wastewater, no one in the world will escape its effects.
