The Zombies Are Here, and I'm Lying Flat at Home

"Zombies, I Really Have a Hard Time Pretending to Be Human" is seeking advance follows~ - While reading novels, Fu Erdie had wondered more than once if she would simply have to wait for death if the apocalypse came. She couldn’t drive. She couldn’t find her way around. She couldn’t cook. As for her stamina... She wouldn’t even need to run into a zombie. A sudden cold snap would be enough to give her a fever and kill her outright. As a useless person of the new century, she sincerely hoped the whole world would prosper, free of illness and disaster. And she could stay at home drawing illustrations to earn a living, while simply getting by. Instead, fate played a joke on her. After a long, gentle rain, the world mutated. The stench of rotting zombies and zombie plants was everywhere. From the window on the tenth-plus floor, she could see panicked crowds, vehicles crashing into each other, stalling, and blocking the roads, and the little noodle shop she often visited, now spattered with blood... Everything pulled Fu Erdie out of her last bit of wishful thinking and back to reality. The world really had mutated. Fu Erdie decided to go out and look for her family. She might as well take a gamble while she was at it: would she become a zombie or an ability user? She summoned all her courage, opened the door, then stepped back inside and shut it. The zombie neighbor in the hallway was too scary! There was no way she was fighting zombies. She could only hide and wait to die. By a happy accident, she had plenty of food stored at home, enough to last a month. But her ending would probably be one of two things: dying now, or dying in a month. She chose the latter, ready at any moment for the water and electricity to be cut off. Day one, everything was as usual. Day two, everything was as usual. Day three, everything was as usual. Day... A month later, it was time to pay the water and electricity bills. The internet was down, so she couldn't pay. Everywhere else in the building was pitch-black. But her room was still brightly lit. The toilet flushed as usual, and she could even indulge in a shower with natural gas. The kumquats, chili peppers, and scallions she had planted on the balcony were thriving at a pace that defied the laws of nature. Fu Erdie suddenly realized: she hadn't mutated. Had her house mutated instead?! A few things to know before reading: 1. The protagonist's love interest isn't the house! It's a human, named Sang Wenhao. 2. The first 17 chapters are rather heavy and realistic. Chapter 18 is the turning point, after which the story becomes heartwarming and focuses on farming. The general vibe after that is fighting, farming, building things up, growing plants, then fighting some more ( ). 3. After going through many versions of the title, I settled on this one and don't want to change it again. The protagonist only decides to lie flat and wait for death when she has no hope. Later, when her house mutates and all sorts of things happen, she finds hope and starts fighting to survive. [In the early hours, I couldn't take it anymore and closed the comments. Closing comments was me being overly sensitive, but I accept the ratings. I've never reported one. I saw you say several times that I deleted your rating, and now this comment has been swallowed too... I'm about to despair. - 2023.7.19] Theme: Take each day as it comes.
