Lin Jingchu's biggest dream in life is to get rich overnight.
Unfortunately, heaven never grants anyone's wishes. Getting rich overnight is impossible. It takes lots of nights.
The butterfly effect caused by a mission for a fool with too much money is that he gets manhandled more often, his long-unseen adoptive older brother makes an appearance, and the family's door is due for another replacement.
A wage slave only gets a little attendance bonus. Does he have it easy?
They say the neighboring country of Japan is much safer. But after he actually moves there with his younger sister, Lin Jingchu locks eyes with a certain bespectacled elementary schooler, and for some reason a chill runs down his back.
Lin Jingchu: Kid, have we...?
Bespectacled elementary schooler: No! We don't know each other! I've never seen you! Who are you, mister?
His fists clenched. His fists were ready to fly.
Faced with Tokyo's ridiculously high crime rate, Lin Jingchu decides to head to the countryside for some peace and quiet. The very next day, after breathing in the fresh air, someone points at him and says he's not human.
Lin Jingchu: Hah. They're all liars.
Until the liar reveals their true form...
The "liar" grins: ...
Lin Jingchu: Starting today, I'm not going to be human anymore. I mean it.
Closing the storybook, Lin Jingchu tucks the blanket around his eldest nephew and coaxes him to sleep. The child, who looks like a carbon copy of his younger sister, gazes at him with sparkling eyes and quietly asks how the fox cub's adventure ends.
Lin Jingchu smiles without answering, telling him he'll find out tomorrow.
Akai Shuichi is waiting outside the room. Looking at Akai Shuichi, Lin Jingchu feels this is the best ending.
Reader's guide:
1. Akai is the top, he is the bottom. The romance develops slowly, and the main story is slice-of-life.
2. There is dark content early on. The tone is heavy, with physical and emotional suffering. Read selectively, and don't be fooled by the blurb. Please heed the content warnings!
3. Both have ex-girlfriends and a history together. If that's a dealbreaker, you can drop the story, but please don't flame it.
4. There is sweetness, angst, and heartache, in uneven measure.
5. There are original characters and plenty of original headcanons. Early on, the story has little connection to the main Detective Conan plot, and mostly follows original storylines.
6. Includes content related to Onmyoji.
7. You get to have fun; I'll take the OOC.
8. Comments and favorites are the best motivation to keep updating.
