Immortal Bones at the Crossroads

Yuan Ge was a demon seed rejected by Heaven and Earth. He hid in the world's foremost sect, Wenling Sect, scraping by in secret. Everyone bullied and looked down on him. Only his senior brother, Chai Yuheng, treated him well. Everyone said Chai Yuheng was as pure and noble as the moon, a gentleman by nature. Chai Yuheng was as radiant as the moon between the clouds, yet he shone only on Yuan Ge. Yuan Ge was once willing to hide his identity for the rest of his life for the sake of that sliver of moonlight. But in the year he turned twenty, he heard Chai Yuheng promise their master that he would kill him with his own hands. Chai Yuheng said, "If we weren't afraid he'd become a demon, we wouldn't have to handle him with such care. We've looked after him for years. It should have ended long ago." Yuan Ge refused to believe it, until Chai Yuheng's sword, Chengjun, pierced his heart and finally brought him to his senses. Yuan Ge clawed his way back from death and returned to the demonic path. He swore he would fight Chai Yuheng to the death. Every agony that tore at the heart and gnawed at the soul, he would make his good senior brother suffer in turn. For that, he risked returning to Wenling Sect in disguise and became Chai Yuheng's junior brother. Chai Yuheng froze at the first sight of him, then reported to their master that he wanted to personally teach him. His fellow disciples said Yuan Ge was incredibly lucky. Chai Yuheng was now unquestionably the foremost cultivator in the immortal sects. They also said the senior brother had long since surpassed the realm, but refused to ascend because he still had an unresolved heart knot. Yuan Ge couldn't help asking what that heart knot was. Chai Yuheng looked into his eyes and said calmly, "There is someone I care about in my heart. I worry over them day and night, and haven't let them go for even a moment."
