[Standalone Stories]
Story One:
Your boyfriend is dead.
You were the cool, beautiful girl everyone admired at school. Lately, you've grown thinner and thinner, pale and fragile, making everyone feel sorry for you.
Soon, strange things begin happening around you one after another. Your mother even goes mad and storms into your dorm, out of her mind as she demands you return to your hometown and fulfill the ghost marriage arranged years ago.
Your friends keep their distance, whispering behind your back that your "ghost husband" killed your boyfriend, and that you probably won't live much longer either.
-
A double celebration, red and white. The suona's wail is chilling.
Your mother leaves the deathly silent bridal chamber, ignoring your trembling form in your magnificent wedding dress. Terrified, she stares only at the paper figure beside you, which seems to have come to life. She grits her teeth, shuts the door, locks it, and abandons you to your fate.
After all, as long as she sacrifices you, He will calm His anger and bring peace back to the town.
-
Deep in the night, at the third watch, white candles weep bloody tears.
Unable to hide your trembling excitement at seeing Him again, your slender fingertips flush a shy pink as they catch on the groom's scarlet lapel.
You lean in to kiss His sharply defined, icy lips, then murmur affectionately, chiding Him for taking so long to come.
The bed curtains fall. Amid the damp air, all you hear is the familiar, low sigh of the man.
-
You were pitiful from childhood, suffering one hardship after another. Luckily, He protected you, and every night spent with the yin wind at your side was a fine one.
This time, to save Him, you enter the game instead: the hunter steps into the trap disguised as prey.
