When Princess Mingzhao was fourteen, she went to Xiangguo Temple to see Yan Sui. He stood in the Lanruo courtyard, draped in a snow-white kasaya. Bending down to pick up a fallen flower, he had handsome lips and a straight nose, his gaze serene. He didn't spare her a second glance.
Later, when the Zen robes were stained with mud, Yan Sui broke the five precepts and abandoned the scriptures. Wielding a sword, he stormed the imperial court over heaps of bloodied bones and clutched a corner of her crimson wedding dress.
“Cut out my heart, sever my tongue, and swallow the bitter consequences.” He smiled softly, just as he had back then. “...This is what I deserve.”
I will drag that bright moon into the mortal world and guide him through it with my own body.
