Gu Man is bound to a useless System and ordered to play the role of the vicious female supporting character in a novel.
All along, Gu Man has diligently played the male lead's vicious first wife: arrogant and domineering, sharp-tongued and cruel, bullying and humiliating the sweet, innocent female lead at every turn. She uses her own false, ugly, and evil nature to highlight the heroine's sincerity, kindness, and beauty, and works hard to move the plot along and deepen the romance between the male and female leads.
After completing a series of required plot points, Gu Man finally reaches her glorious retirement countdown. Once she finishes one last scene, in which the first wife fails to kidnap the heroine, gets kidnapped and disfigured herself, is abandoned by everyone and left with nothing, and is cruelly divorced, she can bring her career as a female supporting character to a perfect close.
Congratulations, congratulations.
But just as the mission is about to be completed, she messes it up!
System: It has been detected that the male and female leads failed to consummate their relationship, the male lead failed to fall in love with the female lead, and you were not successfully abandoned by the male lead. You also made him suspicious. Mission failed. Mission will continue.
Gu Man: What?!
Gu Man: Is it easy to do my job conscientiously every day? Is it easy to keep putting on eyeliner like a bad woman every day? Didn't I just slip in a tiny bit of my own agenda while completing the mission? How did I mess it up?
