The Little Blacksmith and the Tofu Seller's Wife

Old Xue broke his arm, and people in town all declared that the Xue family blacksmith shop would have to close. But the next day, the Xue family blacksmith shop was open as usual, with the eldest daughter, Xue Rou, now doing the forging. Everyone shook their heads. They'd never seen a woman work as a blacksmith in their lives. Later, everyone got proven wrong, because Xue Rou forged blades even better than her father. Before long, business at the Xue family smithy was booming again. Even after Xue Rou earned money, she couldn't bring herself to spend it, because she liked Ye Zhenniang, who ran the tofu stall next door. She passed by her home every day to buy tofu, just so she could get another glimpse of her and spend a little more money on her. But there had never been a precedent for two women being together, so Xue Rou didn't dare say anything and could only silently stay by her side. Until one day, the queen ascended the throne and announced that women were allowed to marry. Overjoyed, Xue Rou prepared a huge pile of gifts a day in advance, planning to go propose at the tofu stall first thing the next morning. But that evening, a matchmaker came to her home. Ye Zhenniang followed behind her, carrying large and small bundles, her face flushed red. Theme: Create a happy life with your own hard work.
