The Jade Lady had only one eye.
When the Jade Lady was young, she had two eyes. Back then, she still had a name, but no one remembered it anymore. Those who did remember were all dead.
The Jade Lady loved snakes and loved keeping them. She had a little green snake named Jade. Later, she dug out one of her own eyes and raised it in her empty eye socket.
The little green snake liked gnawing on the rotting flesh in her eye socket, chewing it into a neat round hollow. As time passed, it became a black hole.
The Jade Lady loved eyes. Since she had lost one of her own, she became especially fond of collecting other people's eyes. She did everything she could to adorn her one good left eye, and added a jade teardrop beauty mark. From then on, people throughout the martial world called her the Jade Lady.
