Drunk, I Raise My Lantern to Gaze Upon the Immortal Lord

The day Pei Xiangyan chose a master, everyone showed up, hoping to take this brilliant young son of the sect leader as their disciple. No one expected Pei Xiangyan to point at Tan Rong, who was sitting at the very last seat. "I want him." Tan Rong had a strikingly beautiful, serene face, but he still lacked composure in the way he handled things. "I don't know how to teach anyone yet." Pei Xiangyan said, "That's all right. I'll teach you!" The crowd erupted in an uproar. The sect leader hurriedly stopped Pei Xiangyan from saying something so outrageous, but he couldn't stop him from becoming Tan Rong's disciple. It was true that Tan Rong wasn't very good at teaching, having never been a master before. Instead, Pei Xiangyan taught him plenty of things. He taught him to drink, to climb onto the sect leader's roof, and how to carry on a secret affair with him. Tan Rong had always thought Pei Xiangyan liked him, even if only a little. So when the truth was suddenly laid bare, his heart turned ice-cold. As it turned out, his affection was a joke, his demonic blood was leverage, and even his body was nothing but a trophy. * Pei Xiangyan was the most powerful cultivator of his age. He fought demons and defended the righteous, earning everyone's praise. But there was one thing that struck fear into people's hearts: never mention his dead master. Anyone who did would suffer terrible misfortune, the kind that got you killed. So when he forced a lowly outer disciple to admit that he was Tan Rong, the disciple was so terrified he knocked his head bloody against the floor. The disciple thought: Tan Rong had such a miserable life. Nobody wanted to be Tan Rong, and neither did he. [Angsty melodrama, scum protagonist, angst, chasing his wife, happy ending] Theme: Put down the butcher's knife and attain Buddhahood.
