The Captain Keeps Flirting with the Captain

My completed work, "Top Fan [Online Game]," and my upcoming novel, "The Immortal Lord Only Wants to Be a Lucky Charm," are in my author column. Please add them to your favorites!

Jiuxiao is a hugely popular Chinese-style competitive Online Game.

During a chaotic free-for-all in a solo tournament, Xu Xingyao, captain of the Feiyu team and holder of the highest combo record since the game's launch, is unleashing a relentless assault on his opponents. Just as he is about to break the record, a cold arrow flies straight at him and interrupts his attack.

Xu Xingyao turns around. On a high platform behind him, a masked man taunts him by raising his bow.

The audience: That feud just got serious.

From then on, Xu Xingyao remembers the man: Jiang Jin, the captain of the Jiye team and the game's top archer, said to never miss a shot.

The fans of the two teams spend a year hurling insults at each other, waiting for the two captains to face off one-on-one and settle the score for "that arrow." But instead of a duel, a bombshell announcement arrives.

Xu Xingyao leaves Feiyu and joins Jiang Jin's team.

From then on, things start taking a baffling turn.

During a livestreamed duo match:

Xu Xingyao: "You draw their fire in a bit. I'll find a chance to get in close and attack."

Chat: "So cocky! He actually dares to order Captain Jiang around, and even wants the team's main damage dealer to be a target for him?"

Jiang Jin: "Sure thing, Captain Xu."

At an event they attend together:

Host: "You two captains are sitting so far apart. Does this confirm the rumors that the two Jiye captains don't get along?"

Jiang Jin smiles slightly, moves beside Xu Xingyao, who is sitting ramrod straight, and puts an arm around his shoulders. "Is this close enough?"

Fans: "??"

In a post-match interview after their team wins the championship:

Reporter: "What plans do you players have for the next stage?"

Xu Xingyao: "Keep training and competing. Take first place."

Jiang Jin: "Same as him. And let me add that we'll take first place together with my boyfriend."

#JiyeCaptainsAnnounceTheirRelationshipAfterTheMatch# quickly shoots to the top of the trending list. The solo fans cry, and the ship fans go wild.

"When the long night ends, you are the star that welcomes the dawn."

1. Updates are generally at 9 p.m. Sometimes they come early on weekends. There are at least 5-6 updates each week. If there won't be an update, I'll let you know in advance in the author's note. I have plenty of chapters saved up, and once I start a story, I'll finish it. Come join in!

2. A sweet story dressed up as an esports novel. The story is not based on real people or events. The game has many original settings, so please don't nitpick. I'll try to keep the game sections easy to follow. You can still enjoy the story even if you don't play games!

3. Everyone who reads carefully is an angel. Friendly, respectful comments are welcome. My author column also has the completed modern-day Online Game romance "Top Fan" and the historical wuxia novel "Linyuan." If you're interested, come take a look!
