After Yu Yi reads a melodramatic entertainment-industry novel called The Rise of an Actress, she complains, "I thought this was supposed to be a wish-fulfillment story. The heroine has it way too rough at the beginning." Then she transmigrates into a book.
He Chan lost both her parents at a young age, was abused by her relatives, and bullied by her classmates. At last, she turns dark and becomes a black lotus. After entering the entertainment industry, she rises to fame and fortune.
After transmigrating into the book, Yu Yi becomes a high school student and discovers that she's only a nameless NPC who appears in the first ten chapters. If she doesn't interact with the heroine, she'll disappear once the heroine's high school storyline ends.
She approaches the heroine, He Chan, and discovers that her pale, cool-toned complexion and gloomy aura are completely to her taste. But she isn't at all like the black lotus from the later chapters, who could kill gods and Buddhas alike. She's just a pitiful girl whom everyone bullies, so Yu Yi goes into full knight-in-shining-armor mode.
He Chan has lived in the mire since childhood. She knows how cold people can be and has long since stopped expecting anything from them.
But then, one day, she begins to notice some astonishing coincidences:
Whenever she's hurt, a few boxes of medicine appear in her desk.
The umbrellas people throw away return to the umbrella stand, exactly as they were.
The classmates who bully her avert their eyes when they see her, and then never dare to bother her again.
A single ray of light appears on the dim road of her life.
