Can I Pet Your Spirit Form?

The military's Eastern and Western towers have been at odds for a long time, and the two newcomers joining this year only add fuel to the fire. The top Sentinel recruit and the top Guide recruit fought on the day they arrived at camp, nearly destroying the entire training ground. From then on, the names "Eastern Li Zhuang, Western Qi Yan" spread far and wide. Everyone is waiting to see when the two newly minted troublemakers will fight again after their spirit companions fully awaken. Then comes the matching exchange. Amid the scent of Guide pheromones, Li Zhuang gazes at Qi Yan's alluring features and drawls, "What a cute spirit companion. Can I pet it?" Before he's even finished speaking, his spirit companion manifests as a goshawk. A gale sweeps through, leaving devastation in its wake, while the bird's imperious bearing displays all the majesty of a king. Standing beneath its enormous wings, Qi Yan smiles faintly. "Who did you call cute? Say that again." Everyone knows that other Guides soothe Sentinels during treatment, but Qi Yan's treatment is nothing short of absolute mental torture. There's only one person who seems bewitched by it, enjoying the "abuse" again and again. * Li Zhuang is hailed as the strongest humanoid machine in history. The day his mental power runs wild, everything within five miles is left in ruins. His overwhelming mental power leaves everyone with tingling scalps, and nobody knows what to do. Then, before their eyes, someone walks calmly toward him. Qi Yan seems completely unaffected by the mental power. Amid the attention of the crowd, he reaches Li Zhuang and gently embraces him. #King charging across the battlefield x guardian soaring through the sky# #Even the fiercest beast can one day be tamed by a goshawk# - White tiger spirit-companion Sentinel top x goshawk spirit-companion Guide bottom - My own take on Sentinel-Guide worldbuilding, with plenty of original rules. Not too technical, probably. [A brief overview of the setting, adapted from online sources] 1. Sentinels: Human weapons of war with extremely heightened senses and far greater combat abilities than ordinary people. 2. Guides: Highly empathetic people who can sense others' emotions and soothe a Sentinel's violent impulses, among other things. 3. A Sentinel can only be with their bonded Guide, and vice versa. 4. For the detailed setting and original elements, see the main story. It's not too technical and should be easy to follow.
