"Top music producer x international hip-hop superstar"
You Qi was surfing the internet when she got into an argument with someone called Chequer. Their online diss escalated into a feud between record labels, and things got pretty heated.
It started because the other person's track was so damn good, and they sang so damn well, that You Qi delivered a sharp critique: "Your song sounds like there's a used motorcycle in the trunk of a Cullinan."
Chequer replied instantly: "Your lyrics sound like the trashy novels I wrote in elementary school."
One reason it blew up might be that Chequer had released a song for the first time. Most of the time, the name was associated with a top producer and label boss. Having worked behind the scenes for years and kept a low profile, almost no one knew she was a woman.
Sometimes Nan Fang herself would have doubts, especially when the team was making a song and accidentally put her name before a male vocal track.
She was about to change it, but then Chequer started arguing with someone. Only after the argument did she notice the other person's name, so she decided to go along with the mistake and find someone to perform the diss-back.
Then, when she ran into him backstage at a music festival, she invited him to dinner, just as she had when they were seventeen. Two bowls.
